RTA Summer Rendezvous

posted Tuesday, May 29, 2012 by | one response |

July 27, 28 & 29
Filucy Bay/Longbranch

A special discounted rendezvous moorage fee for RTA members is 33 cents per foot.  Remember, you don’t have to own a tug to be an RTA member and attend a rendezvous.  We have many members who arrive by land.

Mike Wollaston (Tug Ruby XIV) has graciously donated his two houses near the top of the dock for our gathering.

Potluck brunch and meeting at 10:30 AM on Sunday morning.

Note 1: The Native American annual canoe journey will be hosted by the Squaxin Tribe this year. On Sunday, July 29, they will be traveling from Solo Point to Olympia. We can take boats out if we want to see them turning around Johnson Point. They expect 100 canoes. It’s quite a sight.

Note 2: The Underwater Music Festival is off Cutts Island (Dead Man’s Island), Gig Harbor, WA on Saturday afternoon, the 28th. You can ask Rydells about it if you are interested in doing this.

This just in…There is also a Bluegrass and BBQ festival in Longbranch that weekend!
Mark your calendars for the first annual Bluegrass and Barbeque Festival on Saturday, July 28th, from 2:00–6:00 pm at the Longbranch Improvement Club just across from the church. Admission to the festival is FREE, and everyone is invited to bring their acoustic instrument. There will be opportunities for bluegrass jamming, as well as performances by local talent. Food is available for purchase, including BBQ sandwich, cole slaw, and chips for $6. In addition, there will be a silent auction, with many items worth bidding for, along with quality lawn and patio furniture for sale. Kids activities will be available as well, so bring the whole family! All proceeds from the festival go to support the ministries of the Longbranch Community Church.
