Dockton RTA Rendezvous

The occasional shower (and one downpour) did nothing to dampen the Dockton RTA Rendezvous. It turned into a lovely weekend. 10 RTA member boats spent  Saturday showing off their boats and giving folks the opportunity to get on board a “real” tugboat. So many of our visitors thanked us for bringing the boats to Dockton.  This has become a popular fall weekend event on Vashon Island and we had lots of interested tug enthusiasts young and old walking the docks.

Brian Parke brought his new (to him) 1937 steel tug Patrón.   Brian delighted visitors by starting the tugs vintage washington engine several times during Saturdays open boat tours.

The rain stopped in time for the Saturday night potluck hosted by George Hill and Wende Johnson (Tug Parthia).  Plenty of good food shared with great friends.  Wende and George provided  several racks of delicious ribs as the main dish and everyone else brought a side dish or desert.  No one left hungry!

Sunday morning was calm and warm.  Bill Soderberg and Juli Tallino hosted the first annual Pancake Potluck on the dock.  It was truly a group effort with the Sea Scouts providing the cook stove, Tug Galene brought out a table and RTA members provided juice, sausage and more bacon to share with the group.  You can never have enough bacon!

A very special thank you to George and Wende for once again hosting a great rendezvous.  It’s one of our favorites and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the weekend.   We look forward to doing it again next year.

Thanks also to Tugs Thea Belle, Parthia, Galene, Patrón, Joe, Reliance, R.W. Confer and Thistle Dew, also M/V Costero and Sea Scout boat R.E. Gillespie.
